Cosplay Corner #5 Interview: Dustbunny

Today I’m putting up my interview with Dustbunny.  She is a professional and award winning cosplayer involved in the craft for over 10 years and has an incredible talent for making cosplays that are either creative or accurate.  She also is eager and willing to support and help anyone who has the desire to cosplay.  She was also involved in a fan-based documentary called “True Otaku: The Documentary.”

Thanks for doing this interview, how are you? Doing awesome~ just finished up Ninja-Con I was the cosplay guest of honor there. Also the facebook page just hit 100k which is super exciting. ^^

What kind of a geek niche do you think you fit into? I suppose that depends on my mood. Some days it’s gaming or it could be anime.

What are your top 5 movies, games, and tv shows? Movies: Hocus Pocus, Rocky Horror, Mean Girls, Goonies, Nightmare Before Christmas Games: Super Smash Bros, Zelda Series, Kingdom Hearts Series, Pokemon Series, Borderlands TV Shows: House of Cards, Adventure Time, America Horror, Game of Thrones, Bob’s Burgers

When you cast a patronus spell what shape does it take? Rabbit XD

What does it mean to be a ‘Professional Cosplayer’? To teach others to cosplay

How long ago did you start cosplaying? Over 10 years ago

Why did you start cosplaying? I started cosplaying in the hopes of meeting others that liked anime.

Do you make you cosplays? Yes.

What’s you favourite cosplay that you’ve made? Currently it’s Totoro but I will always have a spot in my heart for first cosplay, Kurama from Yu Yu Hakusho

What Cosplayers inspire you? All I suppose. I don’t follow anyone in particular.

What is your absolute favourite thing about cosplaying? Making a fantasy character real.

Do you have any other cool hobbies?

I enjoy cooking and editing videos.

I know lots of girls are often given a hard time for cosplaying or expressing their geekdom saying they aren’t true geeks, I think this is stupid but it happens. Does this happen to you and how do you deal with it? I believe this is a really dumb argument simply because cosplaying is an expensive hobby so I can’t imagine girls going to cons just for attention- they can go to a bar for that for much cheaper.

I myself have never had this happen to me but I have seen it happen to friends. It’s not cool.

Anything you want to say to the folks at home? Just thank you for reading my interview and I hope to hear from you on my page.

Where can we find you on the internet?
